DISCOVER THE BEAUTY OF THE PYRENEES

Staying in one of 3 charming cottages, beautifully and sympathetically restored from an old, disused watermill, surrounded by tranquil, terraced gardens bordered by a babbling stream, you won’t wish for a better atmosphere to get your creative juices flowing. Your hosts, Stuart and Kate, offer fully inclusive breaks with tuition from professional photographer, Nigel Bradley.

The objective of our photography holidays is to provide guests the opportunity to learn new skills, at their own pace, with the emphasis on enjoyment. To aid budding photographers (leisure/keen amateurs) in improving their visual and technical prowess in digital photography. Please note that the courses are not designed for high-end or semi professionals.

Expert tuition in small groups of no more than 7 ensures that all levels of ability are catered for with encouragement and guidance to achieve better pictures across all areas.

Situated in a valley of the Lower Fenouilledes in the foothills of the Pyrénées, this peaceful location makes an ideal base for photographers. Each season brings its own beauty, colour and light. Fresh greens and yellows of Spring to the incredible Autumn reds and oranges of the surrounding vineyards and deciduous forests. Between mountains and the Mediterranean you will find dramatic scenery and be introduced to local markets in small towns and the stunning, vibrant coastline.

Kate and Stuart, friendly and welcoming, will ensure a comfortable stay and you will have plenty of time to relax at the end of each day on one of the terraces, or to take a stroll in the surrounding countryside. The flora is unique, having the largest range of wild orchids in France. You’re bound to find inspiration in abundance!

EXCURSION - COLLIOURE

The picturesque little town of Collioure, occupying an idyllic site on two small bays, against the backdrop of the Pyrenean foothills. It has much to offer, in terms of charm and amenities, famous for its fortifications, church and royal castle.

Collioure offers narrow cobbled streets with colourful, flower bedecked balconies and boutiques with inviting window displays, its seaside promenade overlooking the brightly coloured catalan boats and outdoor cafes. This little fortress town has a very distinctive character not to be missed.

EXCURSION - VILLEFRANCHE DE CONFLENT

Villefranche is an eleventh century medieval town fortified by Vauban in the seventeenth century. It lies at the foot of the Canigou (Sacred Catalan mountain) at the heart of the Pyrenees. Classed as one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France', Villefranche is one of the 14 Vauban sites retained for UNESCO World listing.

Within the fortifications, its narrow lanes are home to local crafsment and picturesque shops. So much to see exploring the Town, the Ramparts, Fort Liberia and the Grandes Canalettes Caves.

THE COURSES

Our weekly all-inclusive holidays are designed so that guests arrive Sunday afternoon and get to know each other over an evening meal before the group work starts on Monday morning. They will then run through to Friday evening, with the guests departing Saturday (offering 4 days tuition with excursion/1 rest day and 6 nights accommodation).

The course consists of tutorials in lighting and composition, covering areas such as portraits, still life and landscape photography in a variety of locations.

Nigel's aim is to guide each student to achieve better pictures in the area they desire. Framable prints are very possible whatever your level of photography or the equipment you possess.

Aside from a digital camera with relevant memory card we recommend that you bring a laptop, if available, to view and manipulate your images.
